The Detroit Lions are a professional American football team based in Detroit, Michigan. Founded in 1929 as the Portsmouth Spartans, they moved to Detroit in 1934. The Lions have won four NFL championships (1935, 1952, 1953, 1957) but have yet to win a Super Bowl. After decades of struggles, they have emerged as contenders in the NFC North in recent years. They play at Ford Field.
